A message about the Canton Tornado

On Wednesday, January 20th shortly after 5PM a tornado touched down in Canton, Texas – Jeff Allen’s hometown.   Several other reports of high winds across the county in excess of 80 mph have been recorded.   Damage is widespread across Van Zandt County.    Early reports indicate some 50 homes/structures damaged or destroyed by last night’s storm.

Several of you have called and emailed us to check on Jeff and his family in the Canton area.   Jeff’s family is okay and escaped damage to their property.  However, there are many residents in the county still without electricity today and there are those that lost everything.   An there are no reports of any loss of life.

Red Cross has set up a Disaster Relief Center on the First Monday Fairgrounds in Canton, TX.

Efforts are underway to organize a fundraiser for the victims of this storm.  Team Allen will keep you posted as this develops.
